[ltp] Suggestions for 750P

I've got a 750P. Don't laugh TOO much. I also have two 600X's.

I've got the 750P running again, and want to make it kind of useful. So far,
I have a 12GB drive in it. One PC-DOS partition, one FreeDOS, and about 7GB
for Linux.

Some specs: 33MHz 486, 36MB RAM (maxed out), 2.88MB floppy, two PC Card
slots (16-bit). No CD-ROM drive. Grayscale 640x480 display. Pen interface
that works like a tablet.

The LinkSys PCMPC100 10/100 NIC works great with Linux. I have a MegaHertz
56K PC Card modem, but haven't tested it in a while.

The video chip is the WD 90C24 with 1MB video RAM. I've been pretty much
limited to Red Hat and Fedora before now.

Right now, the machine has Debian (from a floppy/network install). As it
happens, Debian uses XFree86, and the video driver for the chip has not been
ported to the new 4.x series. So I get a lovely 320x200 display. Not too
useful. The 90C24 driver module doesn't have a maintainer at the moment.

I'm looking at Slackware, but I'm not sure it will be better.

I'd appreciate suggestions and tips on getting this thing running (and
putting it on the back of a camel doesn't count). I know it won't be fast,
but it can be fun.

Once video works, maybe some of you can help with audio. The 750's have a
CS4248-KL chip, but the audio driver has never worked right with it. I think
it has to do with the weird IO addresses IBM assigns to the chip (0x4E30 for
example). Any tips on that would be nice. I'm afraid I might have to look at
source for that though.

Thanks
