Hi,

I've got a T41 2373-2GG with Debian Unstable on it. I have almost
always the fan on, and I would like to know if this happens to others
with a system like mine.

I've a friend with a R40 and a 1,5GHz centrino and Ati's 7500 radeon
(just like me) and he just gets the fan on when compiling the kernel
or doing heavy cpu usage stuff (zsnes r0x for that :-)). The only
difference is ram... he has 512, while I continue having 256 MB (I
know, I know... I have to go to crucial.com :-D).

I have a 2.6.9 + swsusp2 patches, cpudyn and laptop-mode running. A
few weeks ago, I enabled the DynamicClocks option in my XF86Config-4
after applying the patch and compiling the current XFree86 version
from Debian Unstable.

With ibm-acpi I can see the temperatures:
temperatures: 35 40 25 41 28 -128 24 -128
fan_speed: 2973
fan_offset: 0x84
commands: fan_offset <offset> (<offset> is 0x00-0xff)

With those temperatures should the fan be on? I doesn't botter me a
lot, but I would like to know why it's on :? I've seen people on this
list with the ibm-acpi thermal output and with the fan on, but they
had the GPU (it's the 4th column, isn't it?) at least 70º.

Ahps, and with 'vmstat 3' I can see that I don't have a heavy I/O from the hdd:

procs -----------memory---------- ---swap-- -----io---- --system-- ----cpu----
r b swpd free buff cache si so bi bo in cs us sy id wa

 0 0 1036 1512 10948 133104 0 0 0 0 1062 415 0 0 99 0
 0 0 1036 1512 10948 133104 0 0 0 0 1062 400 1 0 99 0
 0 0 1036 1512 10948 133104 0 0 0 0 1160 477 1 1 98 0
 0 0 1036 1512 10948 133104 0 0 0 0 1308 549 2 1 97 0

So... any clues? :-D Again, if somebody has a T4x and can post their
temps - fan on/off so I could compare...

If you need more info, let me know.

Thanks for all.
