hi,

I have the 3rd HD in my System T40. First one was the 40GB Original HD
from IBM, really noisy.
I've replaced it with a Fujitsu 60GB 4200rpm. It was really quit and
faster then the old one.
Now I have a Fujitsu 80GB 4200rpm. Great HD with nice speed. Why do you
need speed. I want the notebook to be quit and cool. My Notebook is not
a fileserver, so as I think there is no need for fast HD. Btw the
4200rpm hd are fast. This is enough for me:

################################ BENCHMARK ##########################=20
thinkpad # hdparm -t /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
 Timing buffered disk reads: 84 MB in 3.04 seconds =3D 27.76 MB/sec
thinkpad # hdparm -T /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
 Timing cached reads: 1460 MB in 2.00 seconds =3D 728.65 MB/sec
################################ BENCHMARK ##########################=20

Greetz

Building an operation system without source code,
is like buying a self assemble space shuttle without
instructions.
