I have this problem too. Matter of fact have had it for about half a
year now :-) Posted about it in august:

For me also the dealer said it must be hardware and because it is a cold
boot issue I can remove the harddisk before repair. I only still need to
send it in...

The trick is that it is related to either charge or temperature. My
solution for keeping it working is suspending to ram and leaving it on
power. As long as I do that the screen is fine. At the moment when I
cold boot I need to keep the laptop at the garbled boot screen for about
5 minutes before I can do a normal reboot.

BTW. I'm planning on sending it in next week.
