hi everyone,
i am another newbie to the world of linux on thinkpad. i have a thinkpad T21
with knoppix on it, which is derevative from debian, with kernel 2.6.9.
my problem is that when i give apm -s the screen sleeps, and the processor
and the desk goes as well to sleep(i guess), but the fan switchs on every 5
minutes, and works for 10 minutes long!!! and the crescent small lamp(the
symbol of sleepe state) is NOT lightening.
everytime i have to shut down the machine when i do not use it. which is not
good idea i guess, but i do not know what to do.

i noticed while booting there is an error message saying something about
acpi, is it possible that the problem has to do with apm and acpi, how can i
switch one of them off?

thanks for any help!
heissam
