As laptop user with an ATI mobility card, I also hoped for ACPI suspend
support.

We will have to wait a little bit more. As you saw, they are aware of
the issue and the next release is scheduled for February (probably the
29th ;-)).
However, until now, no word, if they will fix ACPI. :-/


If you haven't done so yet, it might be good to emphasize the importance
of a working ACPI suspend in the Rage3d forum

which is monitored by ATI.

The unoffical bugzilla also has an entry about the suspend problem

where affected (and disappointed) users could add themselves.

Might be quite right. Although they keep the actual number secret, of
course.
It was said, that some of the delay of the current release came from
adjustments to the development tools, ATI needed for better teamwork
abilities. So they might have added one or another person.
