This isn't the problem. Apparently the /dev/thinkpad c 10 170 is the
only device node needed.

"Power management not active" meant that the apm driver wasn't loaded.
So I loaded it, ran "tpctl -rx" ... rapidly scrolling text ended in a
"Kernel panic - not syncing: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!"

I have syslogd logging to the network, and it managed to get out these
final logs before the panic:

( $ sudo modprobe apm )
Jan 21 20:01:48 mv kernel: apm: BIOS version 1.2 Flags 0x03 (Driver version 1.16ac)
Jan 21 20:01:48 mv udev[12784]: creating device node '/dev/apm_bios'
( $ tpctl -rx )
Jan 21 20:02:17 mv kernel: thinkpadpm: Found APM BIOS version 1.2 flags 0x03 entry 0xb8:0x0. :-)
( panic )

So, the driver works. I just can't use it. :)

Is anyone else using the thinkpad driver on a 2.6.x kernel? How about
thinkpadpm?
