The Warty (4.10) LiveCD and Install CD actually use different hardware
detection, one being Knoppix-derived and the other Debian-installer
(discover vs. udev/hotplug).

The Hoary CD under test at the moment are using a unified system so that the
gamut of compatible hardware for both should be the same.

BTW, you can get a console with Alt-F2 and if you're able to track down
where it is failing, please file a bug and hopefully it'll be fixed:!
