Long Answer:
It depends on the series thinkpad your thinking of ...
e.g. R, T, G, X and so fourth.
 From my knowledge, the T series are most durable (They are a sturdy 
pretty nice piece of kit).
If you go back the list archives - in particular the "why i like my 
thinkpad" or something along those lines, a thread was talked at length 
in general, why thinkpads are good -- durablity was a main feature, so 
there are many examples in that thread what they can stick up to :)

Short Answer : Yes, T probably best bet.
