Hi folks!

I recently bought a pc2700 1gb ram for my thinpad r40. I already have a
512 MB pc2100 inside, but I thought they would be compatible.

But starting with both chips inside, my machine only uses 1gb (in fact,
"free" writes 904932 Byte of total memory, why?). Further on, the
pcmcia-socket0 could not be initialized.

Using only one chip (never mind which one) everything works perfectly.
What do you think? Should I use "advanced memory detection" function
offered by my bios? It says, modern operating systems won't need it.

Thanks for your help

Frederic
