When I bought my T42, I got the HDD adapter, too. I got it directly
from IBM, so it may have been extra-expensive. I presumed it was
proprietary and so I wouldn't really be able to find it anywhere else.
I forget how much it was exactly, between $30 and 50? (probably
something like $35). That was *just* the adapter, though. I had an
extra 2.5" HDD to put in it.

Incidentally, I haven't used the adapter in a while since I got a
Vosonic VP2160 (12-in-1 card reader and external hard drive with
battery. Press a button and the pictures from your camera's flash card
are copied to the drive. USB2, works in Linux, too. $80 at Newegg.
Must stop writing like this.)

Basically, get an external USB2 enclosure unless you will be working
on a small table most often.
