Maybe use "fdisk -l /dev/hda" and compare this line:

Disk /dev/hda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 15017 cylinders
                                      ^^^^^

with the ending cylinder from your (physically) last cylinder?  You said

DYM as one big partition?  then it'd be /dev/hda1.  In my case it's this:

/dev/hda5          8000     15017  56372085   83  Linux
                            ^^^^^

Try that, anyhow.
