Until xgl (xserver based on openGL) and associated infrastructure is
ready, a new 2d accel model called exa has been developed to
accelerate render and hence things like composite.  Currently only the
sis driver has exa support but there is a patch for radeon floating
around that will be committed soon.  It's up to developers to add
support for other chips, however, most are busy getting ready for the
6.9/7.0 release. An r200 card like yours will perform fine once the
code is added.
