Hi,

my thinkpad is a T42 2373-WEM, I bought it last month.
Since 3 days ago, automatic standby mode does not work anymore. I mean,
I set :

laptop-mode start
hdparm -S 4 /dev/hda
hdparm -B 1 /dev/hda

Now I can wait, but my HDD will never spindown. I can force it with

hdparm -y /dev/hda

and it accepts to spindows for a while. But when it resumes, it will
never go back to standby mode unless I force it.

Sometime when it is supposed to spindown I can hear it clicking - but
never go to standby -, but it it not really noisy.
I rode this page :
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_with_hard_drive_clicking, and my
HDD it a HTS548060M9AT00.

Please help me, tell me if you think I should call IBM.
