[ltp] t43 sata issues

i just read your correspondence

regarding sata in a t43, which i got yesterday and am currently installing 
gentoo on, so far, without problems, if it weren't for that kernel panic i 
got with my first reboot into the new system. 
this is the first time i have a sata drive, so i'm quite puzzled. 
i have compiled intel piix/ich support, sata support and a couple of modules 
[they were provided my default, i didn't choose them] in a 2.6.11 kernel.
i don't really know how to avoid that. 
i would be very thankful for any suggestions.
