Hi there,

after reading multiple success stories about suspendig R51 Thinkpads
with no or little problems on this list and some other sources I want
that, too. It can't be that hard, can it?
Well, actually suspending the beast isn't much of a problem,
resurrecting it is. Whenever I tell the notebook to go to S3 (echo 3 >
/proc/acpi/sleep) it changes into text mode, beeps, shuts everything
down, and lights the green sleep LED. Everything's fine up to that
point. Then, if I try to wake it up again, hard disk and display come
back to life, but the display only shows "Stopping tasks: ==========|"
and the sleep LED stays on.
I made quite a lot of attempts to solve the problem, but none was
crowned with succes: I tried several kernel versions (2.6.9 to 2.6.11,
with or without local APIC support, with or without DRI), I manually
stopped most processes and unloaded every single module, I tried the
acpi_sleep=s3_bios, acpi_sleep=s3_mode and pci=routeirq kernel
parameters and I even sacrificed my hamster to the great god of ACPI.
It all didn't help. What am I doing wrong?

        Cheers,
            Ingo
