The following patches have been floating around on the linux-thinkpad
lists in various forms since 2.6.9 or so, but were never in a state
were they could be merged into mainline.  What I have attempted to do
is to get them in a state where they could be start being vetted for
inclusion into the -mm tree, and from there hopefully into Linus's
tree. 

A fairly large number of users have reported success with these
patches, and have been able to reduce their power utilization from
some 3600 mW/hour consumption during sleep down to approximately 600
mW/hour.  So, I believe we are ready for the next stage of getting
more testing --- namely, to add this to kernels as a
CONFIG_EXPERIMENTAL option and allow more users to try it out.

The patches are versus 2.6.11; please comment.
