alsamixer was the first thing I turned to, and I tried muting
and unmuting everything that looked likely. I'm pretty sure
only Master and PCI were unmuted, and both at 100%. As I wrote
before, the sound came back after the laptop was awakened from
suspend by an ACPI battery event.
