Disclaimer: I have not had the need to contact IBM support regarding
my Thinkpad.

I do not believe you should have any trouble getting support if you
have Linux installed.  Other comments in this thread may echo this,
though I haven't read the whole thing.  I did find this information on

I don't think they will assist with Linux specific issues, nor should
they as IBM is not a Linux distributor.  Anything hardware related is
independent of the OS and IBM would certainly know this.
