Two suggestions: the first is that my notes suggest to me that I did at
one time successfully build an RPM from Dag Wieer's old spec file at:
http://dag.wieers.com/packages/kernel-module-thinkpad/ from newer tpctl
source from the tpctl home page.  I don't think the spec file needed
more than minor modification to do so, so if you're familiar with
doing this or have a little time to learn, it shouldn't be too hard.
Or you could mail Dag and ask if it'd be possible for him to update
his package (he's busy, though).

Secondly, I'd suggest strongly if you need this to add your weight to
the seemingly stalled bugzilla on this at:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=161036

and ask for a resolution of the packaging issues.  My recollection is
that I didn't personally find anything useful enough in tpctl to
bother, as I use ACPI.
