That's a good piece of news but I still have Xorg reporting no DRI and 
no render acceleration:

(WW) RADEON(0): Direct rendering not yet supported on Radeon 9500 and 
newer ca rds

(II) RADEON(0): Render acceleration unsupported on Radeon 9500/9700 
and newer.
(II) RADEON(0): Render acceleration disabled


Is this the same as 3D ?
