I downloaded a debian package from
http://debian.isg.ee.ethz.ch/public/(sarge version) and installed it
with dpkg. Then I load the module with
modprobe -i ibm_acpi and it appears listed on modprobe -l | grep ibm

Anyway, the fan script listed on
http://thinkwiki.org/wiki/ACPI_fan_control_script doesn't work because of
two errors:

1.- Temperature on my machine can be read from
/proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THM0/temperature but not from /proc/acpi/ibm/therma=
l
as thermal doesn't exist on the /proc/acpi/ibm folder

2.- Fan can not be controlled echoing commands to /proc/acpi/ibm/fan as
"fan" doesn't exist on that folder neither. I do have a /proc/acpi/fan
folder which is empty so sending commands there doesn't work.

So I'm clueless about how to make the fan control script work on R52+Ubuntu
Hoary.

Do I have to recompile the kernel to make ibm-acpi work?

Thanks,
Jaime
