[ltp] finding thinkpads which boot from usb 2.0 disk

My R40 is about 1 1/2 years old and does not support booting from USB.
However, some R40 do support that, so I am wondering if one can do a 
BIOS upgrade to enable USB boot. Does anybody have any experiences with
that?
