That should _much_ more, at least an order of magnetude. Isuspect they simply 
made a mistake with typing the number.

My R40 is about two and a half years old, but the ThinkPad battery has hardly 
been used. ( No more than 20 cycles )

No, definitely not!

Ask IBM Germany. Doubtless they will be expensive, but you will get a good 
replacement battery from them. They are honest traders.
