For those of you out there who had the same problem of booting T43
rescue&recovery partition after installing GRUB in MBR, my success
might be of use:
Sympton: After installing GRUB in MBR and booting the rescue and
recovery parition, one arrives a blue screen.
Solution: Apparently this is due to wrong assignment of partition id by
fdisk or something like that. After reading this

by checking here:
http://thinkwiki.org/wiki/Rescue_and_Recovery
I changed the ID(partition type) of my rescue and recovery
partition(for my computer /dev/sda2) from Compaq diagnostics(12) to WIN
95 Fat 32(b). And now I boot into rescue and recovery fine!

/dev/sda2 * 6623 7296 5412960 b W95 FAT32

Hope this can help people out there.

Now I only have three things left:
1)xorg 3d acceleration---ati drivers does not work well with
suspend-to-ram and seems to have stability issues.
2)finger print reader---I know there's a beta driver out, but I read
one need to somehow recompile xscreensaver to make it work with lock
screen. Is there a howto out there?
3)hdaps the accelerometer shows orientation of my thinkpad last time I
check, but does parking hard drive work for T43?

Go linux!
