Hei,

I'd like to mod my X20 case into a slide-open mechanism, so that the LCD 
panel always faces outwards and can be slid open upwards.

This would require an extension of the display cable.

Has anyone experiences with this or can anyone give me hints on what to 
get and what to do? I'm interested in any note on what to pay attention 
to or clever ideas of how to implement the idea.

(Right now i'm thinking of a flat cable that is flexible enough to roll 
up behind the display when it's slid up and would lye flat behind it 
when slid down (covering the base casing).) Question is how to connect 
the extension cable with the original one, are there standard ways to 
solve such things?
