I did test installs on X60s yesterday (this particular X60s has Intel
GMA950 as part of the 945GM chipset). Ubuntu Dapper and SuSE 10.1
installs choose to configure X.org with i810 and it "works". FC5 and
Debian Sid choose vesa.

X.org docs do not mention 945/GMA950 under i810:
