I'm using Xorg 7.0 on my T41p, running Gentoo GNU/Linux. I also encountered=

freezes and lockups with the modular version of Xorg, and the only solution=

for me was to disable the framebuffered virtual terminals, since it was the=

radeonfb kernel module which caused these annoyances when loaded in paralle=

to a running Xorg server.

Maybe that's your problem, too? A workaround to have a high resolution cons=

until this thing is fixed could possibly be the use of vesafb(-tng),=20
providing slower virtual terminals, of course.
