 	Indeed, and I've wrapped that into ~/.bashrc (after fixing 
Ubuntu's bug where ~/.bashrc isn't parsed by default), and now I have 
a prompt that looks like this (with some color, on local consoles, no 
color on remote consoles):

 	State: discharging 8%, 00:13:01 remaining
 	[10:35:02 Wed Feb 22]
 	[1] angst:~
 	$
