If anyone has it would be interesting for me too. I have tried the dynamic 
clocks option with a patched xfree86 as well as in xorg and the same happend 
to me. Until yet I switched back to original xfree from sarge and by default 
I have disabled glx and dri which seems to have a better effect than the 
quite poor powerplay implementation in xorg. When dri and glx are needed I 
start a second X-Server with them activated.
