Hmm, as I am reading it - well no fan at all for at least twenty minutes 
(just through POST).
But I am just checking e-mail, so the CPU stays at 600 MHz and the load 
is nearly zero.

I am wondering - do you have the automatic power control for PCI and CPU 
enabled?
Do you use cpufreq or some sort of adaptive frequency scaling?
