Hi folks,

Trying to install Fedora Core 5 on a new T60 2623 D3U, 2 GB RAM. ATI
7145. Hooked up to a essential port replicator.

I toss the DVD into the drive, boot up, and during the install, the
machine locks up. The thermo bar stops, the mouse won't respond, etc.

I've tried this five different times now, and it has locked up at
different spots in the install. Once it only got halfway through the
'checking dependencies', while other times it gets most of the basic
packages installed before stopping cold.

After reading through the messages in the archive since March, I see two
possible suspects:

1. Something to do with a setting on the drive (PATA vs SATA vs ???)

I didn't understand what the messages were talking about, but I booted
into the BIOS anyway. However, I couldn't find any setting having to do
with the drive, so I'm stuck here.

2. A badly machined shim on the 2nd 1GB DRAMM.

Yeah, I could pull out the second DRAMM module 'just to see', but I
thought I'd check on the list here first to see if anyone had any
suggestions.

Thanks,
