I recently downloaded SUSE 10.1 and installed it on a couple of 
computers.  It's licensed under GPL.  Anyone can legally do the same as 
there is no license to buy.  The packages you buy from SUSE include real 
disks & books and some amount of support.  Any of those free download 
distros are the same.  They are GPL and include the license.
