A follow-up on my earlier posting...

I've now installed and used the 100G Hitachi drive.  The sound level, from all
that I can hear, is the same as the 60G drive that was OEM on my T42p.  While
I can hear disk access, it's not loud, and it's unperceptible in my office with
the typical ambient noise of a few cooling fans on various printers, etc.

If anything, access seems faster than the older drive.  I don't know if that's
because it's a higher data density or that I upgraded my OS (Suse 9.3 to 10.1).
There's a significant speed-up in my slower apps, one of which is a large Java
program.
