[ltp] R31 fan stays on

The fan on my R31 ThinkPad has been running continuously for
some weeks now, even when the system is idle.  Since there
have been no software upgrades, I suspect dust may be restricting
cooling and that cleaning is needed.

Any ideas?

Also, any pointers to drivers for the internal modem?  IBM's
driver code does not compile?

I do leave it on with X running a 2.4 kernel (Slackware) with no
applications other than terminals and ssh'ed into remote systems
idling.
