thanks for the follow-ups on this.
I also thought about something like that. Do you know the name of the 
tool that people use in windows ?

Without digging further into it, I would assume there must be a way to 
tweak this in linux, too.

I am also curious (again) that Damien reported it disappeared when 
switching from Gentoo to Ubuntu.
I run a pretty up to date Gentoo, with latest stable gentoo-sources and 
I am not in the mood to replace it with another distro.
