[ltp] T43, suspend-to-ram via acpi, hang on resume

I'm using a T43. Gentoo Linux, kernel 2.6.16-ifc (ifc being a small patch to
better control the fan speed).

When I try to suspend to ram via acpi (S3) at the console, everything works as
expected. It comes back successfully, too. I like it.

Now, when I try this in xorg (via kde or "hibernate" command), it suspends
fine. On power up, things are good until the LCD comes up. The image varys
between being completely trashed, and only somewhat trashed. The system goes
totally unresponsive (even to sysreq) within a few seconds. This is obviously
quite useless.

Any ideas out there on getting this to work right? I have grown tired of
having to fully power down when I want to save battery.
