The problem seems to be the current suspend2 stuff.  If I use a vanilla
2.6.16 (even withaut Alan's PATA-pachtes) then everything works as
expected, /dev/scd0 is back :)

To (re-)enable suspend2 the description given by your link is very
helpful.  I also discoverd that thinkwiki has updated.  In
