[ltp] Dead R50e

Hi!

I just ran into a problem with my Thinkpad R59e. While I was working
on linux, the screen just turned black. I could not verify whether
there was still some content on the screen but the backlight died or
the complete screen went dead. So I rebooted.

Now, when I power the Thinkpad on, the screen does not light up, the
fan starts working and the battery, the Z-like and HDD LED are lit up.
The problem doesn't seem to have anything to with either the battery,
the hard drive or the DVD drive, because removing the parts from the
R50e doesn't change nothing.

I tried connecting the VGA output to an external projector before
booting to see whether it's just a screen issue, but the projector
doesn't receive any signal from the laptop.

How can I find out more about the error/hardware failure? What can
cause a Thinkpad to not boot up any more? And, most importantly, how
can I fix it?

I would appreciate any hint!

Thanks in advance,
Julius
