Which network card is it? Does it use the ath_pci module?

I just installed the ubuntu dapper beta on my x40. My network card was
detected and setup in the liveCD, but not in the installation. I had to
download a different kernel with the restricted modules (686 vs. the
386) and copy it to the harddrive and then install it manually.

But I thought it worked when I installed breezy...

The ping on localhost and on the own address is fine, but the ping to other mashines is not coming back. Since the card is working under Windows and the driver from intel didn't chane this effect, I decided to try debian or ubuntu. With debian I have the problem with the external DVD Drive. The Installation is starting but then it is looking for a cd-rom but doesn`t find any to mount. That sounds strange....
