Yes, but 600X is much faster (somewhat 600MHz compared to 300).

Mine has a quite new 40GB "Model=3DFUJITSU MHV2040AT" running in udma2:

# hdparm -tT /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
 Timing cached reads:   540 MB in  2.01 seconds =3D 268.64 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads:   44 MB in  3.12 seconds =3D  14.10 MB/sec
