Just to add a bit of info, when I tried to apply the patch from the 
thinkwiki page ibm-acpi-0.12a-2.6.17-fan.patch, it says:

Hunk #1 succeeded at 1529 (offset 63 lines).
Hunk #2 succeeded at 1543 (offset 63 lines).
Hunk #3 succeeded at 1555 (offset 63 lines).
Hunk #4 succeeded at 1573 (offset 63 lines).
Hunk #5 succeeded at 1597 (offset 63 lines).
patch unexpectedly ends in middle of line
Hunk #6 succeeded at 1606 with fuzz 1 (offset 63 lines).

Does this mean my patch succeeded?
