That 0x12 is the R&R partitition. Very visible and very deletable.

No.

The R&R partition is definitely accessible to fdisk when set to "Normal" 
or "Disable" in BIOS. Not sure about "Secure", though.

It certainly does not delete it.

Don't be afraid to test this stuff. Just make a copy of the factory state 
(through windows and thinkvantage software suite).
