It's a long time ago, and I was using Suse 9.2 I think. I had the
original IBM CDs, but I kept getting an error; I've forgotten what it
said.  I wondered what I could do, and thought about the old copy of XP
that I had.  It actually installed, and was hideous.

When XP finished installing, I then booted the first IBM cd and
everything worked fine after that.  I of course had to update.  It did
take a long time, but I was so pleased to see that IBM desktop.

I don't think I will use MS-flop again, but if the need should arise
I'll go through the same process.
