[ltp] DVD reader/writer replacing CD reader/writer

   Dear Thinkpad colleagues,

   I'd like to replace the CD reader/writer in my A30P ( yes it is an old machine but it is working really well and the screen resolution is just wonderful ) with a DVD/CD reader/writer. I'm currently running SuSE 9.2 and planning to have it replaced by Gentoo some time.

   o is that possible ?
   o has anybody done that ? and
   o was there any need to update firmware, drivers, etc ?
