It might be a good idea to post methods to reduce power consumption.

I know a few methods (for a T60p):

1/ CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor - set to minimum (1GHz for T60p)
2/ Turn off switch for wifi and bluetooth (but how to do this in software)
3/ Turn down GPU (aticonfig --set-powerstate=1)

I also know one way to view power consumption, via power manager, is
there a better way?

The low-state power consumption for my T60p in FC6 is quite variable,
ranging from 18.5W to 24W with the CPUs at 1GHz, GPU at 209/135Hz,
wifi/bluetooth switched off, and lid closed.
