OK, I'm in the same boat as Einstein's wife, when asked if she
understood what her husband wrote. "I understand the words, but not the
sentences." :)

I could try that.... but I'm not sure where to start. I saw a bunch of
notes on the Solaris forum when searching on how to do this, but they
looked inappropriate. (1) How do I tell what version my current xf86 is?
(2) And how do I upgrade it, if it's too old-fashioned? I don't do a lot
of 'out of the box' upgrades, past the occasional 'rpm -iv'.

Same questions.... where do I find xrandr, what version I have, how to
upgrade it? I see

   >rpm -qa | grep -i xrandr
   libXrandr-1.1.1-3.1

Izzat it?

In separate news, I thought XF86 was... outdated and being replaced? Or
do I have that in reverse - XF86 replaces something else?
