[ltp] Sierra mc8755 unlocking

Hello list,

   I am having a terrible time trying to get the vodafone unlock code 
for my WWAN card from IBM. I have seen it noted on thinkwiki and 
elsewhere that it is possible, but IBM australia tell me that 1) they 
dont have the codes, and 2) that the T60p range is unlockable in 
.au/.nz (I have been in contact with IBM and Lenovo, and it seems they have no idea about them)
Can anyone suggest possible ways to get these codes or bypass 
them? Vodafone.au has an unlock page on their website for phones but I 
am not holding out much hope for this. (I entered the IMEI number, 
waiting to hear back) I would use vodafone but they have no 3g coverage 
in small towns around the country, (where I will be using this card) so 
the card is less usefull than the dialup modem in the laptop as I will 
be limited to GPRS.
