[ltp] T43 automatically suspends when idle on battery, then it doesn't wake up

I'm running Gentoo on a 2.5-year-old T43. I used suspend2 hibernation
(via Gentoo's suspend2-sources) for a while, but then decided to try
to get suspend-to-ram working. It works fine, except for one minor
glitch. If I leave the laptop running on battery for about 10-15
minutes, it will automatically suspend. And it won't wake up, whether
I tap the power button, close the lid and reopen it, hit Fn+F4, or
plug it in. The little moon light on the monitor stays lit, but
nothing else happens. I finally have to hold down the power button
for about 5 seconds to get the laptop to totally turn off, and then
turn it back on again. Any ideas what's causing the suspension, and
how I can either prevent it or recover from it? Thanks.
