[ltp] ipw2200 / wpasupplicant lockups

Hi,
I'm experiencing strange behaviour with ipw2200: when i download files 
which are big enough to take some time to download (~~25mb)  I  get 
disconnected according to the gnome wifi applet. Sometimes it reconnects 
in a second, some other times everything freezes. I also experience the 
freeze when i "killall wpa_supplicant" without unloading the module.
I have these problems on a R50e with Debian unstable (unstable may be a 
hint) and a Debian packaged kernel-2.6.18-4-686.

Any ideas?
